I will be personally thanking everyone who lent their support, but let this quick note serve as an initial thank you for your donations, Facebook Shares, Twitter Favorites, Twitter Retweets, and overall support for my Defeating Cancer...One Stec At A Time campaign to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I don't know if I will win Man of the Year, but your support has meant so much that I already feel like a winner.
The final total is still being calculated, but by my initial count, we raised around $7500!!! This made me so overwhelmingly proud, I had to share this excitement right away.
Over the past 10 weeks or so, I have annoyed everyone with posts and emails and tweets and I thank you all for not completely ignoring me as we worked to raise money for such a great cause. The fact that I was able to raise so much from so many resources around the country really made me proud. It means a lot to me and my family to have all the support.
With my impending move to Chicago around the corner, I am going to miss Kansas City for many reasons, but will certainly always consider this city a second home and somewhere I wouldn't be upset to end up settling down with a family. It has been an incredible 4+ years in Kansas City and I guess I have to thank the Chiefs for bringing me to town to put me in the position to get to know all these fantastic people.
In summary, thank you to everyone. I woke up today incredibly honored and happy to have so many supportive people around the country, who were more than willing to send a couple bucks and support me in this campaign. Charity is one of the greatest displays of kindness and I couldn't have done this without all that kindness.
